Home of the human Swiss Army Knife
From an early age, like most kids, Jason’s creative talents as an artist began to emerge in the form of drawing. During adolescence, and much to his parents delight, he stopped scribbling on the walls of his family’s home and began putting lead and ink to paper. Inspired by comic books, science fiction, fantasy art and Japanese media, Jason attended art school and continued this way through his teens. In high school, Jason trained in the skills of automotive body repair and refinishing. During high school and after graduation, Jason worked in an auto body shop that specialized in custom fabrication. Building racecars, custom show cars and monster trucks, Jason exercised his creative ability to see the potential in a seemingly useless object, to solve and overcome problems in order to create works of art with the materials presented to him. After a short term in the armed forces, Jason received his degree In Graphic Arts and continued with his drawing. A temp job landed him in the middle of a photo studio where he developed an appreciation for photography. Leaving his temp job and joining the freelance community as a photo assistant, Jason attended the New York Institute of Photography and spent many years as a freelance photographer/photo assistant. As digital photography came to be the norm, Jason found another skill for which he seemed to have a natural talent for, retouching and image manipulation. Recently Jason has had the opportunity to draw on his creative, artistic and fabricating skills to build props for various photo and video projects. These are just some of the experiences that have helped Jason develop the ability to not only imagine a concept but also to understand the mechanics of bringing that concept to life.
